It amuses me to discuss this on my blog to the point where I had to take some tequila having to disclose my embarrassment. OK, that was a joke I never did take any tequila but I felt so embarrassed having to constantly ask, “What do you mean?”,“What is the meaning of?” ,“I don’t understand” ,“can you explain this?”
While writing this blog I still have to open several websites while chatting as some people have made it mandatory to research and use new slang on each chat.
It all started about 8 months ago when I had a video production in a long distant village in Imo state, Nigeria where there was no access to the Internet and most times to make or receive phone calls you have to go outside the house.
And you know as a young man and a Nigerian, night calls are constantly coming through my phone. Thanks to the mobile services in Nigeria. But receiving such calls at night? No thanks to my callers, unless they wanted the village masquerades to kidnap me. But really it’s scary to make phone calls at that time of the night outside (do I need to explain that too? I bet my Nigerian fellas would understand).
Actually my long disconnection from the Internet marred my communication skills. I always thought slang were only used by people while speaking or communicating orally or by SMS.
But I was proving wrong when I came back to Lagos and got on board the Internet, started a chat with my girlfriend (my own beloved girlfriend) whom when speaking on phone talks normally but chatting, (OMG) she speaks in tongues (in strange language).
Anyway, I would cut the story short. This development however led to my research and collection of some Internet slang which I believe will be useful and will be constantly updated. So enjoy! And feel free to comment on it or even add more.
